Can Automation Replace Testing

Can Automation Replace Testing?

I try to make my podcasts as valuable as possible to the software testing practitioners, so that they make use of the ideas, concepts, and tips in their day-to-day work. I am glad to share that the next podcast is available at our YouTube Channel Software Testing And Quality Talks. Among many other important topics discussed, the podcast discusses the most important question in Software Testing today – “Can Automation Replace Testing?”

I know you would be greatly curious about the topic “Can Automation Replace Testing”, so go through the podcast. I have done this podcast with Bas Dijkstra, who is a well-known test automation expert who has been working for 16 years in test automation. Bas and I were in touch some time back regarding one of the courses that he made available, which was API Testing with Python which I greatly appreciated, and then we had an Internet call about the possibility of doing a podcast and discuss test automation and related topics, and Bas kindly agreed.

Here is the direct link to the podcast, by the way: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GATSkDeUzKs

What are the automation related topics that we discuss in the podcast?

1) Can automation replace testing?
2) The number of scripts and the maintenance issue
3) Mutation Testing and whether it is needed
4) Test Oracle
5) Tips to testers starting with automation for testing
… and more.

For many of you who have been working on automation for testing for quite a well, there will some views which will be a new take. Don’t be surprised by that. The views are expressed by both of us in the greater good of Software Testing and Software Quality, so I hope that you would appreciate our efforts. I look forward to seeing your comments and feedback in the comments section of the video. I would love to see your thoughts.

On another note, I’ve been trying to work on an initiative to make software delivery metrics really inclusive and usable for the organisations, so watch out for hearing about that some time.

Happy Testing, and all the best!
